Initially conceived as an empowering peer-led support group in August 2008 for women on their road to healing from the effects of domestic violence and abuse, My Life My Soul faced a challenge in that women who wanted to attend were disappointed due to inclement weather, travel distance and time constraints. Only 2 women attended the support group.
In an attempt to help survivors nationwide, My Life My Soul has taken the core principles of the physical face-to-face support group and is now hosting a radio show with over 2500 listeners, both men and women!
The radio show is based on open discussions on how domestic abuse affects all of our lives as survivors; exploring issues not openly talked about that we face after leaving our abusers; eliminating isolation; exploring individual self-image and reinforcing self-confidence. This is a very unique radio show in that it is the only one of its kind solely dedicated to issues surrounding domestic violence and abuse and ways to heal from it rather than it being an occasional topic.
